FEELING COZY...

We are delighted to announce that Town in a Blueberry Jam: A Candy Holliday Mystery by B. B. Haywood will be published by Prime Crime / Berkley Publishing Group next summer. The book was acquired by editor Leis Pederson. Two more books in the series will follow.

Town in a Blueberry Jam charmed us from the beginning. Set in a coastal town in Maine with the blueberry farm of Doc and Candy Holliday as a backdrop, the book has everything a good "cozy" mystery needs--a likable and interesting protagonist whose curiosity gets her in and out of trouble and whose intelligence solves crimes; a set of quirky and amusing minor characters; crimes that puzzle and defy the experts; a simmering love interest; a conclusion that leaves readers wanting more.

The cozy mystery genre is one that continues to thrive. People just can't seem to get enough. From Agatha Christie's Miss Marple to television's "Murder She Wrote" to The Cat Who.... series, to Town in a Blueberry Jam, cozies are here to stay (at least for now). We have another on the back burner that features a remarkable new writer--hoping to sell that one soon!

Are you a cozy writer? If so, send us your query!

Congrats to you and B.B. I saw this listed on Publisher's Marketplace last week, and the title immediately caught my eye - I love it! And, I was pleased to see you were the agent. Best of luck with the series. (I'm glad to know murder mysteries are selling, since I'm happily at work on a humorous, suburban, murder mystery series myself!)

Congratulations! I can't wait to read it! The market is so bad right now and it's always inspiring to hear about a deal and even better to hear about a three book deal. Best of luck to you and B.B.

P.S. I don't see a turnaround time on your web site. What is the turnaround on partials and also on fulls?

Thank you,
Mariah

Hey, Mariah!

Kae here. We are waaay behind on our partials and manuscripts. Our goal is to work our way back to the point where response to partials is within three months and manuscripts six months tops.

That is our goal. We're not doing that well now, but soon....

Congratulations to B.B. Haywood! I love cozies -- they are so much fun. And I agree that the title is eye-catching. Does B.B. have a website or a blog?

I have written a cozy mystery and am trying to get an agent with no luck so far. The "On Demand" publishers are calling me and tell me that most publishers expect authors to publish "on demand" before they will consider them. Is this true? What do other people think? Lyn

Congratulations! This post caught my eye--I'm currently writing a cozy mystery, and the fact that it sold to Prime Crime is pretty awesome. :) I'm excited to read it and hopefully query you with my mystery once it'sfinished.
